WEEKLY UPDATE
June 3, 2010

Greetings!
The weather has cooled down a bit since last week... and I love it!

Something I do not love is to receive an alarming phone call from a friend.  Today, I received a call from some people that I use to pastor in a previous church.

To my amazement, I was told that one spouse had left the other spouse.  One day everything seemed fine, the next day half of the belongings of the house had been moved out. WOW!

Now I know this couple extremely well.  They were some of our closest friends while we served at their church.  This is totally out of character for both of them.  We had a great chat on the phone and we prayed together and I believe that God is going to do some powerful things to bring them back together.

You might recall from last Sunday that we talked about this very topic.  We read the words in Revelation that the church of Ephesus had "lost it's first love."  Sometimes in the marriage relationship it is easy to get so caught up in life and doing good things for your family and work place that you forget the one you are married to!  It's so easy for a couple to be married many years and then once the kids move out they look at each other and say, "Who are you?"

Worse yet, the devil actually tricks us into thinking that we don't really love them anymore!  It is a lie from the pit of hell!

In a spiritual sense, I want to ask you again; have you lost your first love?  Has God been left behind or pushed aside because we have better things to do?  Have we lost that spark in our relationship with Jesus?

I have good news for you, there is hope! Maybe today, take time to have a chat with God.  Take time to repent for letting God slip down your priority list.  Take time to humble yourself and pray!

Speaking of prayer, this Sunday we will talk about P2C: Power to Church - the power to pray!  Part of the churches power list includes prayer!

Has anyone told you lately that prayer changes things?  You bet it does!  This Sunday we will dig into the topic of prayer and see the eternal effect it has.

I look forward in seeing you this Sunday.
